Zelma Joyce Gamble-Hall

October 8, 1949 — January 20, 2024

Zelma Joyce Gamble-Hall, 74 transitioned to her heavenly home to be at rest, on January 20, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family in Evansville, Indiana. Zelma was born on October 8. 1949 to the union of Lavion Gamble and Elizabeth Fykes Gamble in Cedar Hill, Tennessee. She was the baby girl of five siblings.

At the age of one, Zelma's family moved to Evansville, Indiana. Zelma accepted Christ early in her life. She was member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church and served in several ministries. Zelma later became a faithful member of the Arena of Faith Church. She served for 30 years on the Usher board, culinary committee, and any capacity that was needed. She loved the Lord, and had a special way of serving him, all while giving to others. Zelma was an Evangelist, spreading the love and word of God with everyone. She never passed up the chance to talk about the Lord. If you knew her you knew she was a prayer warrior. She liked to cook, sew, and crochet. She was a member of Mothers at War.

Zelma graduated from Central High School, she then started working career as a bank teller at Citizens Bank for many years, moving on to Faultless Caster for 30 years until the company relocated to another state.

Zelma was married to Roosevelt Hall Jr., to that union five children were born. She loved her family and took pride in taking care of her grandchildren. Family meant everything to her. Zelma went by many names to those that loved her." Row Row by many, baby Sis, Miss Zelma, Sister Hall, Zeke," just to name a few. Everyone felt her loving, fighting, spirit. She had encouraging word for all family and loved ones. Zelma ended all her conversations with her children and grandchildren by saying "You are God's best and no less," She will truly be missed.

Zelma is preceded in death by her parents; Lavion and Elizabeth Gamble, husband; Roosevelt Hall Jr. sister; Mary Alice Bell, grandson; LaRen Hall, nephew; Kenneth Garth Jr.

She leaves to cherish sweet memories, her children, sons; Lavion Hall, James Mitchell, and Jason Mitchell (Jennifer), daughters; Alicia Hall, Vanessa Arvay (Matt), brothers; Rev Lionel Gamble( Mildred), and Charles Gamble, sister; Geraldine Garth( Kenny),16 grandchildren, a host great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel.
