Wanda Diane Jones, 71, of Evansville, IN transitioned from this earthly place December, 15, 2022. She was born August 26, 1951 in Evansville, IN to Fonda Vincent and Arthur Jones. She received Christ at a young age and was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Bosse High School. Mrs. Jones retired from Whirlpool Corporation and went on to work as a Fashion Fair representative in Eastland Mall. From there, she and her daughter, Antionetta, opened Mrs. Wanda's Little Angels Childcare, providing round the clock care. Nurturing and molding young children (and their parents) brought her an indescribable amount of joy. She also acted as a foster parent for close to 30 children.
She was very active in her community, serving on the Mothers' Board at Memorial Baptist Church, as a Chaplain at the Otis Stone American Legion for Women's Auxiliary, and she was a lifelong member of New Hope's Circle Deborah. She was a member of the Evansville Black Coalition, NAACP, Minority Health Coalition, and a long time supporter of Our Times magazine. Her final project followed in the footsteps of her mother: providing shelter to young families.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Archie; parents, Fonda Vincent and Arthur Jones; sister, Betty Harris; brothers, Arthur Jr. and Craig "Rent Man" Vincent, and other beloved family members.
She is survived by her daughter and best friend, Antoinetta, and one and only son, Jermaine; two sisters, Patricia (Daniel) Redding and Arthuretta (Thomas) Ledford, as well as a host of loving family and friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Memorial Baptist Church. 1pm visitation followed by a 3pm service. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetary at a later date. Rev. Adrian Brooks will be officiating, and Osborn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
