Vera worked at Saint Luke's Hospital and started several businesses, including Vera's Country Kitchen and Jean's Restaurant. She served as a dedicated servant during her membership at the Old Landmark Holiness Church Of God in Christ, St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church of Deliverance, Temple of Deliverance and Victory Temple Church.

Affectionately called" mama", she never met a stranger that she did not help. In addition to her love for people, she enjoyed importing the love of God and everyone that crossed her path. In May 1982, her love for children contributed to her pursuit of becoming a foster parent, she fostered hundreds of children which she referred to as "My Children" up until her passing. On February 27th 2025 at 7:30 AM.

Mama left her earthly home with her grandson, Terrence Sr and her daughter Lulu by her side.
