Valerie Denise Young-Cooper

Valerie Denise Young Cooper was born on December 24, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, to Willie Jean Young and Addie Marie Fox Young.

Valerie was a loving mother and devoted homemaker whose greatest joy came from caring for the people she loved. She enjoyed cooking and feeding her family and friends, listening to music, and sharing generously with others. Her home and heart were always open, and she found happiness in bringing those she loved together.

Family was at the center of Valerie’s life. She was especially fond of all the children in her family and treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her caring nature, giving spirit, and love for her family will be remembered by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, DeVontae Randolph; and her sister, Tanji Fox.

Valerie leaves many fond memories to be cherished by her husband, Michael Cooper; her daughters, D’Angela Johnson (Henry Lovelady), Whitney Fletcher, and Dominique Fletcher; her sons, Byron Young (Traci), Jamaal Young (Latoya Reed), David Johnson (Crystal), and Deric West; her sisters, LaTonya Collier, Vanita Dawson (Stacey), Mia Ryan (Norman), and Genean McFarland; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Osborne Funeral Home.
