This angelic soul arrived to the world on February 14, 1956 from her incredible parents Rev. Joseph L. Trask, Sr. and Flavoria Trask in Baton Rouge, LA. Born out of “Pure Love” this “Valentine’s Day Angel” was the 2nd eldest daughter of the Trask Family. She grew up in a strong Christian household and later harnessed her love for Christ and music through the Choir ministry as a “Lead Choir Director“ at whatever church Rev. Joseph L. Trask Sr. was called to lead – (Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church, Eastview Baptist Church and Christ Missionary Baptist Church). “Talk about intensity”, anybody who was a member of the choir can attest that Valerie would always have everyone on key, in rhythm on every song and all eyes on her.
The angel with “no middle name” was a very giving, social, fun-loving, independent, strong-willed, did I say “very independent and very strong willed soul” that loved doing things her way, at all costs. She learned invaluable life lessons from her parents and grandparents, who instilled in her that she could do anything through Christ who strengthens her. She was educated at West Memphis High School. She then matriculated to Arkansas State University; where she was an Alpha Angel, code name "Slick" and set her sights on gaining diverse and valuable life skills while also seeing the world. She worked in Pharmaceutical, Hospital and Administration, Defense Manufacturing and the Airline industries. Her vast interests and career was a perfect match as Valerie wasn’t a person to stay in one place as she wanted to live and see different parts of the world during her layover here on earth. She made destination stops in Arkansas, Minnesota, Texas, Louisiana, Maryland and Indiana. She finally decided to settle down in Evansville, Indiana and re-unite with her parents/siblings and raise her two sons. In Evansville, IN she made her dream of becoming an entrepreneur a reality and opened a successful and thriving Day Care business that she operated as her final gift to this world.
While we are sad to see her leave us, Corinthians 2:8 says “to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord”. Please know that she is not alone on her descent to Heaven as she is being met by her smiling family that preceded her in death: Parents Rev. Joseph L. Trask Sr., Flavoria L. Trask, Carolyn Trask (Sister), Doris Mims (Aunt), Margaret Lang (Aunt), Victoria Antoine (Aunt) Alfred Henry (Uncle), Alvin Henry (Uncle) and Eddie Lee Trask (Uncle).
