Valeria Sears, affectionately known as Vera, was born in Old Hickory, Tennessee on December 5, 1952 and transitioned to her heavenly home on August 21, 2017 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was raised in Old Hickory, Tennessee. She professed her life to Christ at an early age and joined First
Baptist Hopewell. She received her early education at Stateland School and was a 1970 graduate of DuPont Senior High School. She has been a resident of Evansville, Indiana for over 3 decades. She enjoyed her job of taking care of people even when in pain. She still did the best she could.Vera was a virtuous and joyous woman with an infectious smile, quick with a joke, and full of compassion and love for family and friends. Her life was cherished by many and she will be dearly missed. Vera is preceded in death by spouses, Samuel Lee Talley, Sr. and Alvin Sears; parents, Moses and Clarice Murphy; grandparents, Harvey and Lula Murphy and Beulah Murray; 3 uncles, Eugene, Aaron, and James Alfred Bowles.She is survived by her children, Christopher, Samuel, Ameena (Fred), Kamela, and Antwar; loving companion and caretaker, Demetrius Gilbert; her brothers, Thomas and Wayne; her sisters, Mozella and Camille; her grandchildren, Jazmine, Asia, Kendrick, Jordan, Brian, Kylia, Marcus, and Cory; 4 great grandchildren; her devoted dog companion, Samson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
