Thomasene Mabry

August 27, 1933 — February 15, 2022

Mrs. Thomasene (Dickerson) Mabry, was born August 27, 1933 in Marion Alabama. The daughter of Arthur and Mamie Dickerson. Thomasene moved to Flint, Michigan in 1942 where she completed her education and lived until 2009. After graduating from Central High School, she broke the color-barrier and accepted a job in the office of Genesee Bank, where she worked for 14 years. She then worked for AC Spark Plug, a division of General Motors Corporation where she retired in 1996. Thomasene was united in marriage to Clinton Reed. She later married Moses Mabry. Thomasene was a brilliant woman and was rewarded with promotions and expanded responsibilities until she retired. She led an active life and was quick to volunteer and assist others. While going to the school in the morning before she went to work to make sure that all children had something to eat, she learned of a young woman who had no place to live. Within a week she moved the young woman into her home and cared for her for the four years it took for her to complete high school. Thomasene's house was often where other children came to hang out. She was strict but loving. Thomasene was very competitive and enjoyed games and competition. Her favorites include bingo, bowling, poker, and bid-whist. She loved detective stories and music. Thomasene was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
