Thomas William Pore

Thomas William Pore was born in Evansville, Indiana, on September 26, 1948. He was the fourth child of Robert and Pauline Brown Pore. He departed this life on December 21, 2023.

Tom is survived by his lovely wife of 55 years, Jacqueline (McClure), daughter Angela Masden (Lamon), son Damont (Michele), two grandsons Jalen and Jordan Masden, and three granddaughters Dari, Mikayla, and Dani Pore. He took pride in being a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Additionally, he is survived by three sisters, Mary Ester Smith, Paulette Moore, and Judy Hayden; brother-in laws, William McClure, John McClure (Polly), Kenneth McClure (Kathy), and Dennis McClure (Charlene); sister-in-law, Debra Jackson (Rodney); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was baptized at an early age at the Nazarene Baptist Church, where he participated in several youth groups. In 1978, he joined Greater St. James Baptist Church under Rev. Douglas Smith. At Greater St. James, he served faithfully as a Deacon, Trustee, Director of the Youth, Sunday School teacher, van driver and Director of the CREC Building.

Tom graduated in 1966 from Bosse High School, where he ran the low hurdles for the track team. He went on to study Designer Drafting at Lain Technical School and was later employed by Mead Johnson, Alcoa, and Project Associates. He also served in the United States Navel Reserve from 1968 to 1972.

Upon retiring from Project Associates, he joined the staff of the YMCA for 10 years as a fitness trainer and spin instructor. During this time, he returned to the track, qualifying for the Senior Olympics in the 100-yard dash. He taught the adult exercise classes at St. John's Catholic Church and
was a member of the Board of Directors at Impact Ministries, where he ran the youth basketball league and the Youth in Action Program.

An avid golfer, he was a member of Rivercity Golf Club. He was a member and past president of the Ebony '66 class, and a member of the Golden Age Men's group.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the CREC be sent to 484 South Governor Street, Evansville, IN, 47713.

A visitation will be held Saturday, December 30th from 9 to 11am with the funeral to follow at 11:00am at Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
