November 26, 1951 — January 28, 2015

Steve Winstead, 63, of Evansville, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. He was born November 26, 1951 in Evansville to the late George and Mattie (Fykes) Winstead.


He was educated in the Evansville public school system. He attended Central High School. He confessed Christ at an early age, joining St. James Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Alcoa in 2003, after 30 years of service. He was united in holy matrimony to Anna Sue Fellows on September 14, 1984.


Steve was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle,cousin, and friend. He was a kind and generous friend, always making his friends feel welcome. He did not meet a stranger. He loved sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and horse racing. He also enjoyed cooking, especially barbecuing outside. Steve spent many hours entertaining friends and talking about his favorite teams.


Steve is survived by his wife of 30 years, He was blessed with two sons, Tracey Fellows and Marlon Winstead, Sr. He is also survived by granddaughters Moe’Laizah Winstead and Aryanna Fellows; grandson Marlon Winstead, Jr.; sisters Mae Carolyn (Earl) Hicks, Charlene (Charles) Mosley, and Maxine Winstead Tolliver; brothers Thomas (Elizabeth) Winstead and Lawrence Winstead; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Anna Bell Winstead and Cherry Winstead Owsley and brothers, Elvis and Walter Winstead.


Visitation will be at St. James Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, February 7 at 10:00 AM. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 12 noon. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
