Shelia Darlene Brown
Also known as “Momma Shelia” 63, of Evansville, IN passed away August 31st 2015 at her residence in the care of her Hospice team and family. She had a history of cancer, beginning with Breast Cancer in early 2005 which she’d survived 10 years. She also had begun to develop a type of leg cancer that continued to grow for roughly 8 years. January of 2013, she developed Stage IV Ovarian Cancer. She was born September 22nd, 1951 in Owensboro, KY to John H. Brown Sr. and Lena Belle-Elizabeth Reed who both preceded her in death. She was a 1970 graduate of Central High School, then begin work through EHA. She moved to Cheyenne, WY where she was a front desk clerk at the Fairfield INN and Suites. There she earned an employee appreciation plaque for her amazing customer service. Shortly after, she moved back to Evansville pursuing a career in Heathcare as a Residential Valet at McCurdy Nursing Home for about 5 years. After that she begin work as a Customer Service Representative at Thornton’s for 5 years, and the Cross Pointe Shell for a little over 3 years. She enjoyed volunteering in her church, doing cross word puzzles,word searches and spending time with her granddaughters to keep her busy. She was a member of the “Circle of Faith” within her church. She is survived by daughter Mikko Brown, son Jarrod Brown both of Evansville, twin granddaughters Chrisshayla and Makaela Brown, Nakyah Brown, Great-granddaughter Allahniece Brodeur Siblings Barbara Green of Evansville, John H. Brown Jr, Josephine Fisher, Margaret Gilbert, and Leonard Brown as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-law’s. She is also proceeded son Mitchell Brown, and brother Michael Brown. Her family would like to send a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice, the members of the “Circle of Faith”, Rev. Larry Rascoe, Dr. Vivian Cook and Dr. Roberto Iglesias both her cancer Specialists, Connie Kelley, Osborne Funeral Home, and the family of Nazarene Baptist Church.
