Ronnie James Hardin

October 20, 1942 — July 11, 2022

Ronnie James Hardin, 79, went home to take his rest with the Lord on July 11, 2022, at St. Vincent (St. Mary) Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. Ronnie was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 20, 1942, to James and Mattie Hardin.

Ronnie was a redeemed believer of Jesus Christ. A faithful member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, where he enjoyed praise and worship and hearing the word of God. Ronnie served his country in the US Marines and did tours in Vietnam.

He was also a prized winning race horse trainer who's passion for his profession led him to heroically save several horses from burning stables in 1998.
Ronnie was a multiple sport athlete in high school which led to his love for watching professional Football and Basketball. He has spent his most recent working career as Building Supervisor at Claremont Apartments downtown Evansville, Indiana, and a Hostler at Ellis Park Race track attending to horses in the stables in Henderson, Kentucky.

Ronnie is preceded in death by biological parents James and Mattie Hardin, adopted parents Will and Earsley Ann Northern, brothers Cub Hardin, Charles Hardin and sisters Rosie Hardin, and Ceola Graves.

He leaves a loving legacy and cherished memories to his sons Derhon Hardin (Yolanda) and William Brown; brothers Connie Hardin, James Raymond Hardin, and Larry Hardin; sisters, Sharon Calahan, Willie Mae Reed, Minnie Richmond, Annie Pearl Dozier, Paulette Harvey; grandchildren Christian Hardin, Sydney Hardin, Johnathon Hardin, Jaxson Hardin, Layla Hardin, Myles Brown, Isaiah Brown, Alaya Brown, Kyla Brown, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family; special friends Patrick Rayburn, Renee Massey, Greg Hargraves, Harold "Ducky" Alston, friends and service providers.
His family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Vincent Hospital and Hamilton Pointe Nursing home.
