Robert "Gator" Bryant, Jr. was born December 17, 1946 in Zachary, Louisiana to Robert Bryant, Sr. and Elma Catherine-Bryant. He passed away May 12, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Robert was educated in the Chaneyville, Louisiana School System. After graduation he attended Lane College and in 1966, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country in Vietnam was Honorable discharged in 1968. He retired in 2007 from CSX Railroad after 32 years of service.
“Gator” was an avid baseball fan and LOVED to fish. He was also a great storyteller and enjoyed sharing with others how he came by the name Gator. After retiring Gator also enjoyed mowing his lawn as well as many relatives, friends and others. Hanging with friends and telling jokes brought him great joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers (Cleveland, Charlie and Melvin), one sister (Lillie Mae).
“Gator” leaves to cherish fond memories his caring wife of 22 years, Janice Bryant, Daughters; Kromeklia Bryant (Mark House), Sonja Thomas (Rick), Yulonda Robinson (Darrick), Latosha Moody (Rico), and Mary Tapp, and Son; Menelik Brank. One Aunt; Pearl Beckett, One Sister; Joyce Bryant-Donson; seven grandchildren; Kiran Bryant, Brandon Thomas, Janece Hockersmith (Curtis), Cortni Spearman, Darrion Moody, Cayla Moody, Caleb Robinson. Four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday 10 to 11am with funeral to follow at 11am at Osborne Funeral Home. Osborne has been entrusted with final care.
