Bobby Sutton, born in Ky., October 14, 1936, raised in Evansville and has been a local artist for over 35 years, passed away while at his home September 8, 2021.
Bobby's first interest in art was during grade school in KY., since moving to Indiana, he has renowned into one on the most successful artist in the tri-state.
Sutton worked in oil, pastel, watercolors, and other mediums. His work covers black African art, landscapes, and portraits. Sutton 35-year art career had netted consecutive first place awards, In the 80 Black Expo Art Competition and first place in the Coalition of 100 black women's black history exhibits and International Tea sponsored annually.
Also, he has received an honorable mention on the 80 Red Spot art show. He was commissioned by EHA to teach fundamentals of art to the children in an after-school program.
During Sutton 35 yrs. of art, he was best known for one-man exhibitions. His favorite medium was oil portrait of people.
Sutton states "you must pick up that one distinguishing mark that tells who they are, and make sure you have it drawn in accurately. It could be beautiful eyes, birth mark, dimples, nose whatever feature is that out most is what you have to get on the canvas. Drawing is a mental thing being able to put what yu see on paper it's a process learned throughout life."

Bobby is preceded in death by brothers; Edgar Sutton Jr, and Tommy Sutton; sisters; Marguerite Advento and Glenda Sutton.
Bobby leaves to cherish memories his wife of 28 years; Stacey Sutton, son; Lamar William, daughters; Treasa Sutton, Monica Sutton, and Demetrius Christian; sister; Mildred Ann Hatchett, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, 10 to 11 a.m. with the funeral to begin at 11:00 a.m. at Osborne Funeral Home. Masks and social distancing are required. Osborne has been entrusted with final care.
