Portland Loretta Johnson

Portland Loretta Thomas Johnson, 67 of Evansville, Indiana passed away May11,2026 at her residence Solarbron The Terrace. Portland Johnson graduated from Central High School. She worked at the Evansville United Way for several years before going to work at the Evansville State Hospital for 18 years. She was an avid reader, loved shopping, going to the movies and hanging out with her friends and siblings.

Portland is survived by two children, a daughter Tanikia L Johnson and son Leo L Johnson III {Heather Day}, grandchildren Keosha Byers {Joseph Byers} and Tailan Johnson, great grandchildren Carmelo Marion, Karmen Marion, Carter Marion, Israel Byers and Joseph Byers II. Siblings Dennis Thomas, Kathleen Wagner, Mark Thomas, Paul Thomas, and Sunday Thomas. As well as bonus sister and best friend Yvonne Herring and host of nieces and nephews.

Portland was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Velvet Thomas, siblings Jeffrey Thomas, Willie Thomas IV, Carmleta Thomas Brown, Sylvia Thomas, Johnnie Dee Thomas, Pierre Thomas, Carlene Hall, Darlene Taylor, and Mary Hornbeck.

Visitations will be held May 22nd from 10AM to 12PM followed by funeral at Osborne Funeral Home at 702 Gum Street Evansville, Indiana, and burial services at Oakhill Cemetery.
