Otho Phillip Watkins was born June 27,1930 in Kuttawa, Kentucky to Otho James Watkins and Lucy (Covington)Watkins. Otho passed October 6,2020 at the Brentwood Golden Living Center ,he was 90 years old.
Otho also known as “Phil” fought in the Korean War in the U.S. Army. Phil returned home and worked for Chrysler Corporation in Evansville for a year then carpooled the next 29 years to St. Louis and retired after 30 years with Chrysler. Returning permanently to Evansville, only to continue to work in his retirement for Busler’s, (owned by an Army friend)then 24 years part time at Kenny Kent Chevrolet in the Service Department and driving the courtesy van.
Phil was well known, he served in the Choir and the Usher Board for years at St James Missionary Baptist Church here in Evansville.
Phill was preceded in death by his parents, a brother at birth, wife of 61 years Frances, son Darrell and grandson Antwan.
He leaves to cherish many memories sons; Dwight(Shari), Dudley(Linda) and David. Grandchildren Eugenia , Crystal , Dwight Jr., Chrome, Sushona , Lauryn and a host of great great grandchildren cousins , extended family and friends.
The Watkins family wants to Thank Willow Park and Brentwood Golden Living for the care and services .
Visitation will be 4pm until 6pm Thursday October 15 at Osborne Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday 11am at St James Missionary Baptist Church. Burial at Sunset Memorial Park
