Michele Elizabeth Fox-Steger

March 15, 1962 — March 27, 2021

Michele Elizabeth Fox Steger was born to Juanita Fox and Nathaniel Steger in Evansville IN, March 15, 1962. Michele was very family oriented and loved being with the family for the many family gatherings and sporting events. Some family member’s home was always open to watch the BIG games whether it be basketball, football or track (her favorites) and Michele was always front and center. Being an avid sports enthusiast was in her blood as she even played during her school days. She was a member of the Dexter Elementary Braves basketball and track teams as well as a member of the Bosse High School Lady Bulldogs in basketball and track. Michele was a graduate of Bosse High School and her picture still hangs on the sports wall at Bosse. Michele was also an avid and “probably loudest” supporter for each up and coming family member whether it was nieces or nephews, great or great-great nieces and nephews, or cousins, it
didn’t matter Michele was there to support. Anyone who knew Michele knew
she was outspoken and if she thought something was wrong she would speak
her mind and it didn’t matter to her if she was asked to leave a game or two, as long as she got in her opinion she was okay. Y’all know that was Michele!! Michele was baptized at a very early age at Independence Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Dr. M.H Alston and was a member of the Junior Choir and the Junior Usher Board.
Upon graduating high school Michele moved to Lansing, MI to be with her
mother and oldest brother. Michele worked and lived in Lansing for several
years and united with Galilee Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. Charles Talbert. When Michele returned to Evansville she united with the Memorial Missionary Baptist Church family pastored by the Great Dr. Adrian Brooks Sr. , her schoolmate and former neighbor.
While Michele never had children of her own she loved children and was never without a family member’s child. Back in the day she could be seen strolling Lincoln with her friends with Diosha, LaShauna and LaToya in tow, which earned them the nickname “the block kids”. Everybody knew how much Michele loved all her family and she had such a special connection with the younger ones. She was the official family baby sitter and the little ones loved "Auntie Chelle". She even helped raise her great nephew Jahairea Bass, who she also named, and her great-great nephew Avion Jr.
Michele was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Nathaniel Fox and David Fox Steger. Michele leaves to cherish very fond memories her sisters, Jacquilla L. Fox, Cheryl Ann Boyd-Coit (Charles) and Sheila Lynn Brimm (Leroy), brother, Demarco Lane (Carolyn), nieces and nephews Bryant, Lavern, Dionna, Pamela, Lumecha, Dioshia, DeMarcus, Dekeicha, Daimion,
Laron, Asia and Demarco, Uncle, Robert A. Fox and great and great-great nephews, Jahairea and Avion Jr. and several great and great-great nieces and nephews, very close Fox cousins who were all raised like brothers and sister, James aka Peter, Bonnie, Bruce, Bobby and Greg, family adopted sister JoAnn Vance, God sons, Tony “Tone Tone” Hall and Eris Presley, very close
friends of several years Karen Milan, Peggy Presley and Lika “eyelashes”
Armstead, numerous cousins and friends and special friend Jesse “June Bug”
Merriweather.
