Mary Ann Johnson,71, gained her heavenly wings on Sunday July 14, 2024, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on February 13, 1953, in Scott, Mississippi to Simon Johnson and Frances Wooden-Johnson.
Mary worked at the Executive Inn for many years until their closing, then moving on to Fairfield Inn.
Mary, affectionately called "Red" by many, was raised in the Mississippi Delta area.
She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church.
Mary was a soft, kindhearted soul, who was loved by all who knew her. You would never catch her without a smile. She was a licensed foster parent. Mary always had an open heart and door for any family member in need of a place to stay. Mary loved to spend time with family, she liked to cook but enjoyed going out to eat. She liked to celebrate with family and friends and wanted to make sure she had a party for every birthday. She enjoyed dancing and playing music. Mary loved to keep up with her soap operas. Traveling was one of her past times, she had lot of memories from her many travels.
She is preceded on death by her parents; Simon and Frances Johnson, brothers; Bennie Johnson, Harold Johnson, sisters; Benice Clark, Shirley Simpson, Carolyn Jean Johnson
Mary leaves her fond and cherished memories to her daughters; Jennifer Hooker, Janice Hooker( Vincent), sons; Robert Lee Johnson, Donovan Simpson, brothers; Her twin brother ; Edward Johnson and Howard Johnson -Bey, Simon Johnson Jr., Earnest Johnson, Frank Johnson, Joe Lee Johnson, sisters; Alberta Ross, Frances Johnson, Joyce Johnson, 7 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held Saturday from 10 to 11:00am the funeral will b e held immediately following at 11:00am all at Memorial Baptist Church.
