Marilyn Lawton - Houston, 61 born Nov 8, 1960 to Nesbert Lawton and Vester Green, in Charleston, S.C, received her wings on January 12, 2022.
Marilyn was raised in Orangeburg, S.C. she was educated in Orangeburg School district moved to Evansville, Indiana in 1981. She was the oldest of the two children, she moved to Evansville, In in 1981 where she finished her education, she graduated from Harrison High School.
Marilyn started off doing factory work than moved on to getting her C.N.A. license after taking care of her mother. She was a C.N.A. for almost 30 years, she dedicated her life up until she hurt her back in March 2020. Marilyn was a Foster parent as well.
Marilyn was a member of New Beginnings COGIC. She enjoyed traveling, watching, TV, spending time with her family ,her and her bother Luther were two peas in a pod, going to the movies (Horror), listening to music, reminiscing about the old days, going back home to Orangeburg, S.C. to see family got boiled peanuts, pudding, sausage that you can't find here in Evansville you can only find it down South.
My mom was a loving caring woman had a smile that would brighten anyones day and a hug that would melt all the troubles away. And a kiss that reassured you everything was going to be okay. Her kids and grandkids were her whole world Everyone loved my mom she had a big heart, she loved taking care of her residents, sitting down chatting with them. She loved children.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her Father, Nesbert Lawton, Mother Vester Green, Aunt Idella Brewer, cousin, Robert Brewer, Brother, Luther K. Lawton Sr.
Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories. Special love Dennis Houston (Indianapolis, In) her sons., Louis Lawton (Shaquitta) of Evansville, In.; Justin Sutton of Evansville, daughter, Tonya Lawton of Evansville, In.; Grandkids, Mar'Shiona, JaMareon, Emmanual, AA'Shayana, Elijah, LouShay, Ju'Corius, Bishop, Isaiah; Sister-N-Law Tammie Lawton, nieces, Lady, Kei-kei, Starr. Nephews, C-Man, Luther Jr., Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends, Special Fur son Knight, Fur Grandkids: Tango (boy) Malani (Girl).
A visitation will be held Friday, 9 to 11 a.m. with funeral to follow at 11 a.m. at New Beginnings Church of God in Christ.
