Lucille Wilson- Mays, aka (Pokey) was born Aug 1,1938 in Drakesboro, Kentucky. Her parents were the late Porter Wilson Jr. and Flossie Mae Fraizer.
Lucille was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. A graduate of Lincoln High School, Class of 1956. She also attended Kentucky State College, Concordia College, St. Paul, Ivy Tech, and U of M
A member of the IBPOE: Improved Benevolent and Protective Order, Elks Temple 128, Council and attended guard.
Lucille had been employed at Central High School, JJ Hill, Washington, and Highland School Cooperation. She also worked for the Human Rights Department, Equal Employment Opportunity for the city of St. Paul MN.
Lucille retired from Guardian Automotive after 17 years in Evansville, IN,
Pokey love cross words, jigsaw puzzles, fishing, traveling, goodwill hunting, weekend family and friends' gatherings, but most of all she loved to dance and have a good time.
Pokey never met a stranger that she did not cuss out, her door was always an open village. She raised many young and old souls. She may have cursed at you, but in the end, she was there for you.
Lucille is proceeded in death by her parents, Porter Wilson Jr., and Flossie Mae Frazier, son; John Mays, a host of aunts and uncles, and Charmain Thurston.
She leaves to cherish a sister; Mary Liz (Gregory, Daryl), aunt; Altha Handy and Delois Wilson, uncle; Cleatus Wilson, 2 nephews, daughters; Karan, Felicia, Shelia, Denise, sons; Ronald, Mark, Robert, 29 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, great great grandson; Amir Thigpen, Donnie Austin, a host of family and friends, her fur babies Peanut, Maddie and Midnight.
