Lola Marie Young – a teacher to hundreds, a mentor to many, and a friend to all – peacefully passed away at Bethel Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on May 1, 2019. Born in Heard County, Georgia to Frederick Wood and Annie Swent on December 22, 1920, she was a retired teacher from the Dayton Public School System. She attended Spelman College where she met her husband, Lee Morgan Young, who preceded her in death in 2004 after 56 years of marriage. She was a devout wife and spent every day at the nursing home with her husband until he passed away. Their union blessed her with two sons – Gregory Lee who preceded her in death in 1973 and Nathan David. Lola never met a stranger and if she ever crossed paths with you, she had her special way of impacting your life immediately. In her retirement, she enjoyed gardening while living in Phoenix, Arizona, and was a member of the Presidential Club for Avon for 30 years. She was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church and enjoyed attending church activities and spending time with her church members. Family was most important to her, and her free time was spent with her son and grandchildren who she loved dearly. She will always be remembered for her outgoing, powerful, and generous spirit. Her memory will forever be cherished and kept alive by her son, Nathan Young; three grandchildren Adrienne Young, Allison (Young) Heath, Lee Young; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, 5 to 6pm with funeral to begin at 6:00p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church in Evansville, IN. Osborne has been entrusted with final care.
