Lee Ann Smith, 51 of Evansville, Indiana departed this life on Sunday, February 20, 2021. She was born on November 3, 1969 to Robert Ardell and Doris (Howard) Smith in Evansville, Indiana. She graduated from South Spencer High School in 1989 and Tri-State Beauty College in 1991.

Lee Ann accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Thomas O. Haskins at St. James Missionary Baptist Church. As a child she was a member of the Jr. Usher Board, Sunshine Band and the Youth Department. As an adult enjoyed picking up her mother and attending Sunday morning service at St. James.

Lee Ann enjoyed braiding her hair, detailing her car, spending time with her grandchildren, and blessing others with gifts. Lee Ann’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and she enjoyed showering her loved ones with gifts and making sure everyone felt special on their birthday. She enjoyed watching Tyler Perry plays, WWE Wrestling and listening to music; Tupac was her favorite. She also loved coloring, word puzzles, and games, but she especially enjoyed going fishing with her soulmate, Tony and her BFF Mama, “The Three Amigos.”

Lee Ann was preceded in death by her father, Robert Ardell Smith, step-father, Charles “Moe” Ealum, her sisters, Phyllis Johnson and Kimberly Payne and brother-in-law, James Payne, Sr.

Lee Ann leaves to cherish her memory her husband for 26 years, Tony Johnson, her children, Tameisha (Charles) Smith, Shahih (Kayla) Smith, Brittanie Smith Ariess Smith and Speshal Farmer all of Evansville, Indiana. She also leaves grandchildren, Zy’Ariya Smith, Jamontre Johnson, Juh’Lijah Smith, Z’Laijah Smith, Love Farmer, Krislynn Dixon, Kingstan Cadet, and Kyran Murphy, Demarazhay White.

Truly missing Lee Ann will be her mother, Doris Jean Harris. Brothers: Ardell (Patricia) Smith of Evansville, IN, Anthony Smith of Evansville, IN and David (Titania) Harris of Henderson, KY. Sisters: Lynne (Charles) Farmer of Evansville, IN, Sonya (Donnell) Freeman of Indianapolis, IN, Gayle Broome, of Indianapolis, IN Stephanie Powell of Columbia, GA and Doris (Alexander) Stepp of Hopkinsville, KY.

She will be truly be missed by a host of nieces and nephews, who affectionately and always respectfully called her “Auntie Lee Ann”. She loved enjoyed spending time with them and always made sure that they ALL had a special gift at Christmas to open from her.

Lee Ann’s aunts, Mabel Johnson, Deloris Wisdom and Gilda Slaughter of Evansville, IN and her uncle James Howard will miss her as well.

She had so many special cousins that will miss her as well as her childhood best friend, Tiffany Brown, who she enjoyed hanging with and knows all the secrets. Another best friend she met as an adult was Darlene and Timmy Reardon, who she enjoyed traveling, kayaking, petting exotic animals, dining at their favorite restaurants and spending time together.
Friends may call Thursday 5 to 6pm at Osborne Funeral Home. Funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
