Laura Beatrice "Bea" Yancey

Laura Beatrice Yancey, affectionately known as “Bea,” was born on February 11, 1937, in Evansville, Indiana, to William Jones and Clara Warren. She passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, while residing at Bethel Manor Nursing Home.

A lifelong resident of Evansville, Bea attended Evansville Memorial High School and built a life rooted in family, friendship, and community. She married Charles Edward Williams, and together they welcomed four children: Charles Jr., Lawrence, Jamie, and Laura.

While raising her family, Bea dedicated herself to caring for others through her work as a nursing aide at the State Hospital and later at Turtle Creek Nursing Home. Her compassion, kindness, and strong work ethic touched the lives of countless individuals throughout her career.

Bea later married Marlin Elvis Yancey, with whom she shared many years of love, companionship, and cherished memories.

She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, listening to music, and spending time on her front porch, where she could often be found visiting with neighbors, family members, and friends as they passed by. Bea’s warm spirit, welcoming nature, and gift for conversation made her a beloved presence in the lives of all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles Williams Jr., Lawrence (Deanna) Williams, and Jamie Williams; her sister Lerita “LeeLee” (Roy) Ford; LaDonna Yancey, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Laura Williams; her husband, Marlin Elvis Yancey; and her siblings, Doris Jones, William Jones Jr. and Anthony Ramsuer.

Bea’s legacy of love, strength, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to be a source of comfort, inspiration, and joy to those whose lives she touched.
