Laura Mae Horning was born in Evansville, IN on April 19,1938 to Raymond and Mattie Alderson-Dill. On October 1,2014 Laura passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side at the age of 76.
She had been employed as a OB\GYN Surgical Tech at St Mary's Hospital retiring after 25 years of service .
Laura was a North Band grandma helping as a seamstress and booster supporter for many years . She loved music and was an avid sports fan of all sports. The highlight of her day was her social time at McDonalds on North Main everyday .Laura was even recognized by the Evansville METS as a faithful Bus rider from the age of 14, in an article from the Evansville Courier and Press.
Laura loved to go to church, she had a giving heart she held Christmas and the Christmas spirit in her heart 365 days a year even singing Christmas songs year round. Each year at Christmas she would make sure that any child that she could reach out to would have Christmas gifts. She would reach out to church families and families that she met on the bus, acting as a secret Santa giving gifts to their children , she just wanted them to have a Merry Christmas.
Laura leaves to cherish many fond memories two daughters, Dawna(Stephen) Kneer, of Evansville, Marnita Woodruff of Stewardsville, IN and a son, Michael Mann (Cindy ) of Evansville; two step daughters, Rhonda LaFontaine, of Evansville, IN; and Donna L Horning, of Evansville; step son, Robert Horning Jr.(Becky), of Evansville. a sister, Delores Romano, of Naples, Florida; a brother, Marvin Dill, of Henderson, KY and Sister in Law Joan Dill Grandchildren Benjamin Kneer, Daniel Kneer, Sean Kneer, Amber Chaffin, Josh Chaffin (Jennifer Chumley) Nathan Fairchild, Natalee Fairchild ,Jason Fairchild, Amanda R Fairchild, Joni Jones(Nick) She is also survived by 16 great grand-children.
