Karen Denise Saunders Harper was born on March 30, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the oldest child born to Kay F. and Rev. Robert L. Saunders Sr. She was called on her heavenly home on J January 17, 2025, at the Solarbron Rehabilitation Center
She professed her belief in Jesus Christ and was baptized by her father at the age of 7 years old at Second Baptist Church in Anderson, Indiana.
In January 1967 she (& her family) moved to Evansville, and she joined Liberty Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her father until January 1994. When her father retired, she joined the First Missionary Baptist Church of Henderson, Kentucky. In June 1999, being led by the Holy Spirit, she moved her membership to Memorial Baptist Church- a church & pastor she truly loved.
At Memorial, she served as a past director of the Angel Food Ministry, formerly cooked for three years for the Youth Department & was church clerk. She was proudly an ordained Deaconess and a member of the Women of Faith Ministry, and the Voices of Praise.
She was an employee of Kraft- General Foods (Iglehart Bros.) for 19 years as Quality Control Lab Technician until the plant closed in 1993.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rev Robert Lee Saunders Sr., mother, Kay Francis Saunders Hardnett, grandparents, Sarah E. Pollard, Rev Webster B. Pollard, Norveline Saunders & Wellington Saunders Jr., special friends, James Bradford, and Phyllis Johnson.
She is survived by her one son whom she loved very much, James Jerome(Amanda) Harper, grandchildren, Kaylyn Kennedy Harper and Jayden James Harper, sisters, Angela (Kenneth) Watson, Pamela (Timothy) Jackson , Emily Parker (Tim), Lori Boyd(Rick), all of Evansville, IN and Karmyn Saunders of Indianapolis Indiana, one brother Rev. Robert(Patrice) Saunders Jr., three god children, Orleta Wilson-Holmes, Noah A. White and Tae'Ya Sheriff and a very special family, Johnny & Elexcia McAlister and their daughters Jassani and Jahzara, one aunt Ada Marie Pollard, one uncle, Irving Pollard and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins , great aunts, great uncles, and friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, 9 to 11 am funeral service begins at 11 am all at Memorial Baptist Church. Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery following service.
