Joseph Louis Williams 83, was born on December 2, 1936 in Hebbardsville, Kentucky to the late Odd Moses Williams and Willie Mae (Gregory) Williams. After graduating high school, Joe enlisted in the United States Army. He was a retiree of the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.
He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Hebbardsville, Ky. He would later join McClure Memorial Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Adrian M. Brooks, Sr. He faithfully attended the 8a.m. service until he began to experience health challenges.
“Joe Louis” or “Little Joe” has he was fondly called, was an avid motorcycle rider. He was a retired member of the State Burners Motorcycle Club of Evansville. He was one of the original three members that brought the chapter to Evansville from Philadelphia, along with Joe Peterson and Hobert Sidney. He originally served as the Treasurer and eventually Vice-President. He retired
from the club in 2012 and has since been an active member wearing the State Burner patch for over 30 years. In addition to riding his motorcycle, he loved travel the globe and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surrounded by his loved ones, he transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on Friday, June 12, 2020. He leaves to cherish his memory: son Mark Williams of Chicago Illinois; daughters, Tracey Williams-Davis and Cheryl Haskins; step-sons, Thomas and Reginald Haskins; grandchildren Teria Davis Sheriff (Travis), Amber Stewart, Michael A. Davis (Rosette), Tabitha Williams, Catherine and Reginald Moore and Jordan Haskins. He is also survived by his three sisters; Jean Brown, Grace Harding of LA, and Evelyn Hayes (James) and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents Odd and Willie Mae Williams; sisters, Marvaline Prince and Janet Ham; son, Michael Williams.
