Joan Lowe

February 8, 1936 — August 17, 2017

Joan Gray Lowe was born in Marion , KY on February 8, 1936, a daughter of the late Geneva (Pippen) and Roy Gray. On Thursday morning at 7:30 am, August 17,2017 with her family by her side bidding her farewell, Joan caught the morning train home to Glory.
Joan attended the Third Ave and Lincoln Schools in Evansville.
She later married Roy Lowe Sr and they spent over years together.
Joan was a lifetime member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church ,where she was a faithful and devoted serving member. She joined under the pastorage of the late Rev. Moore ,who baptized her in the Ohio River, Joan was a dedicated worker in the church, Joan served on the Mother's Board, Prayer Ladies, Culinary Committee, Usher Board and Choir. Her presence will be greatly missed
Joan had worked for the Clean Towel Service, which later became Aramark where she worked until retirement .
Joan loved traveling and seeing all this country had to offer, after retirement she bought a van and went to the Grand Canyon, the Gulf of Mexico , Atlanta, Canada and all stops in between she spent her time traveling as much as she could. She often would not plan her trips, she would just decide on the spare of a moment and followed her heart.
Joan to cherish many fond memories her husband Roy Lowe, Sr. daughter, Gloria Lowe-Walker, of Gary, IN and two sons Roy L Lowe, of Merrilville, IN; James Lowe, of Evansvillle, IN. Joan is also survived by a brother, Willie E Gray, of Evansville, IN, 13 grandchildren and a host of great grand, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday 11:00 a.m. St James Missionary Baptist Church with visitation on Friday 6 to 8 pm at St James and 1 to 4pm at Osborne Funeral Home. Osborne has been entrusted with final care.
