Jessica Shea Compton

Jessica Shae Young Compton “Jesse” was born to Essie and Gertrude Belfour in Gary ,Indiana on January 14 ,1951. She was raised in Gary, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She went on to work for Gary Steel Company.

Jesse later moved to Evansville and married her husband of 28 years ,George Compton. Jesse loved her family very much caring for her husband, her own children, grandchildren, as well as those she considered her own.

Jesse was a patient , kind and loving homemaker, with a determined spirit and mind. She was excellent at crocheting. She loved to make and sell her beautiful work. She enjoyed watching tennis and ice skating, also listening to the blues and a little R. Kelly too.

Jessica’s golden heart stopped beating and gentle hands came to rest on July 5,2019 at the Deaconess Midtown Hospital , where she was surrounded in the love of her family.

Jessica was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Virginia, Johnson ,Edith Joy Young, Fransonja Young and her twin sister Jacqueline. As well as all of her brothers.

Jessica’s memory will forever live in the hearts and minds of those who truly knew and loved her.

Left to cherish found memories is her husband; George Compton, children; Jesseka Steverson , Gary Whington, Larry Richmond Sr, and Benny Richmond, Step children Carolyn Lane, Catrina Cheaney , Chrystal Compton-Smith, LaDonna Compton, Jennifer Compton, George Cheaney, Robert Compton, Christopher Compton, Stacey Mayes, Isaih Mayes, Larry Richmond Jr.,Demoney Steverson and Suzanne Powell, grandchildren; Whitney, Monay, Willie and James Steverson and a host of other grand, great and great great grandchildren, as well as host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
