James “June” Swope born March 31, 1934 in Cairo, KY passed away on September 6, 2018 while at Linda White Hospice House.
James was a member of SAL Otis Stone, he worked for Ellis Park for 50 years and retired from Evansville Housing Authority. James was always all smiles. He loved his family and loved talking about them to others. James never met a stranger. He also loved to cook and was especially proud of his famous bar-b-que sauce; he would never share the secret recipe with anyone ,so we will never know the recipe. He and Mary were together over 38 years.
James is preceded in death by his parents; Lonnie and Goldie Sylvia Emily Thomas-Swope, siblings; George, Thomas Sr., Charles, Dick and Louise Swope and granddaughter; Lauren Ashley Swope.
James is survived by his loving wife; Mary Slaughter-Swope, daughters; Juanita Green, Natasha Swope, Barbara Tyler sons; Elder Rondell (Rhonda), Darrell (Denise) and Lonnie Swope, sisters; Geneva Jenkins and Goldie Outlaw, special former daughter-in-law; Konjeta Burkes-Swope as well as a host of special grand and great-grandchildren whom he adored, other extended family members and friends.
