James (Mac) Lenard Mccarty Jr.

November 21, 1941 — February 3, 2018

James (Mac) Lenard McCarty Jr. was born in Washington, DC November 21, 1941 to the late James Lenard and Ernestine (Johnson) McCarty. James passed on peacefully to Glory while in his home February 3, 2018 surrounded in the love of his family.
Mac, as James was affectionately known, was always a kind soul with a gentle spirit. Mac was raised in Chicago, IL where he attended Wendell Phillips High School. He later joined the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. After the service he worked as an auto mechanic for years before moving to the U.S. Virgin Island with his new wife, Latoski Williams and her children. Upon returning to the states Mac took a job with the U.S. Postal Service which he retired from after 30 years of service.
In the mid 80’s Mac rededicated his life to Christ and became a servant for the Lord. He was always eager to share the word of God whether as a Deacon in church, singing in the choir or talking to a stranger on the street.
Mac was a dedicated and devoted family man that was extremely proud of his family. Nothing gave him more joy than knowing his children and grandchildren were happy and productive.
Mac is preceded in death by his parents, sister; Barbara Jean McCarty, brother-in-law; Herman Wilder, grandson; Darryl Don Simms.
Mac is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Latoski McCarty, children, Lynette (Johnny) Gidron, Cathy Finley, Lydia Barnes, Larina (Timothy) Minor, Leonard McCarty, Leo Dillon III, Angela McCarty and Gwen Kelly, sisters; Ernestine McCarty- Wilder and Marilyn (Herman) Ellis, brother, Lester (Lynn) McCarty, grandchildren; Larina Clinkscales , Tekisha Mathews, Dejuan Simms, Shawnea Eison, Deshanara Smith, Alexis, Leo Malikhi, Alliyah and Benjamin Dillon, great-grandchildren, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family would like to give a specials thank you to his brother-in-law; Michael Williams who stuck by his side through his entire illness, Chemo Buddies, Dr. Kodali and the staff of Chancellor Center of Oncology and staff of Health South may the Lord continue to bless you all.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 at Eastview Missionary Baptist Church, 801 S. Garvin with visitation Thursday 5 to 7pm at Osborne Funeral Home. Osborne has been entrusted with final care.
