Imogene Merritt Lowery was born on April 16, 1932. She transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, January 6, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Imogene was the daughter of Edward Merritt and Henrietta Vaughn-Turner.
Imogene was a strong believer in Christ. She attended Lincoln High School; she was Valedictorian of her graduating class. She went on to Evansville College, now known As University of Evansville and showed her talent on the basketball court. She was a member of the Evansville College Women's Championship team. Imogene ended her college career at Oakland City College graduating and obtaining her degree. She had a love for sports. She was an avid bowler, loved to fish, play ping pong and cards. She also ran track and field, played baseball, and basketball. She was a AKA sorority member.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Esther Collins.
She leaves to cherish her memories two brothers George (Tim) Turner Detroit, MI, Paul (Sandra) Turner San Diego, CA, daughters Candace Lowery, Esther Moore, Karen (Jimmie) Woolfork, sons Jack (Patricia) Lowery, and Edward (Eddie) Lowery, 19 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, 9 to 11 am with funeral to follow at 11 am all at Nazarene Baptist Church.
