Gregory Alan Young

March 23, 1953 — September 23, 2015

On Wednesday, September 23, 2015, the bright lights beckoned Gregory Alan Young to freedom. Freedom from sickness, sorrow and pain.

Greg was born March 23, 1953 to (the late) John Willie Young and Arnell Burnett Taylor Young in Evansville IN, Gregory attended St. John's Elementary School, Res Mundi High School and graduated in 1975 from Indiana University, Bloomington IN with a B.S. Degree in Occupational Therapy. Greg is a member of Phi Beta Sigma, whose line name was "K9 Movement". Even though his degree was in Occupational Therapy, Greg was a renaissance man, who blended his therapist training and artistic talent. His style and flair was inspired by his father who worked as a tailor. Coming from a musical family, Greg remembers the sounds emanating in his home, music and clothing were very important in his house. Whether Greg was singing, acting, modeling or designing, he was a natural, who started designing at 15. Where his father gave him flair, his mother, Arnell Young, the rock of the family, gave him pride and character.

For thirty-one years, Greg lived in New York where he worked as an Occupational Therapist providing therapeutic services to children and adults for a variety of diagnoses to increase independence. Greg said working with people was like art, because you have to rely on your creativity to meet challenges that are presented. Working in New York City didn't harden Greg he was still a country boy at heart who maintained some of his country accent and loved to help people.

Though predeceased by his parents John and Arnell Young and sister, Barbara Jean Harris. Gregory leaves to cherish his memory two brothers and one sister; John "Billy" and Cheryl Young , of Los Angeles, CA, Ann Wagner of Evansville, IN, Michael Young of West Hills, CA, a surrogate mother Gladys Farris Layne, nieces and nephews; Stephen Young of Berlin, Germany, Leslie Young of Los Angeles, CA, Terry Darrett of Evansville, IN, Tamara Wagner-Marion of Evansville, IN, Mykka Piantanida of Santa Clarita, CA, Alan "Deon" Dulin of Cincinnati, OH, Lauren Rodrigues of Berlin, Germany, a host of great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and so many friends.
