Gregory Stewart Holland was born on March 26, 1954, in Evansville, Indiana. The 4th child of Clarence and Roberta Mae Holland. He departed this life on July 26, 2023.
He was baptized at an early age at Eastview Baptist Church where he served faithfully. He later united with Liberty Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, Trustee, Van Driver, Audio Ministry, Male Chorus Member, and was a leader for the Mens Ministry Team.
Greg attended North High School. After high school he worked various occupations in automotive, transporting, and logistics. He later retired from Silgan Closures where he worked as a mechanic for 29+ years.
He was passionate for all things outdoors. He treasured fishing trips throughout the year where he'd catch the biggest and most delicious catfish to cook for his family and friends. He looked forward to hunting for deer and turkey every season. Greg also took a great pleasure in camping, boating, riding his 4-wheeler and bicycling. It was no secret that he had a heart for youth, and he combined his two favorite hobbies by riding to fight children's cancer. He was an avid participant in The Great Cycle Challenge for over 9 years. He was also known for his cleverness, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit to help people. Oh, and let's not forget there was nothing he could not fix.
Greg is survived by his wife of 21 years, Scherilla (Davis) Holland; daughters, Cristi "Pooh Bear" Holland, Misti (Jose) Tula, and Calise Wall; sons, Antonio Montrell Hackner, and Gregory (Rachel) Williams II; sisters, Sara Holland Cooper, Helen Holland, Dorman Holland, and Joanne Holland; a host of grandchildren, a great grandchild, nephews, nieces, cousins, church family, and multiple dear friends.
Home going services will be held at 11am on August 3, 2023 at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. 9am viewing until service time.
We will always carry your memory in our hearts. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27
