Gloria Owens, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Envive Healthcare in Evansville, Indiana. Born on January 6, 1947, in Griffin, Georgia, Gloria was the cherished daughter of Jesse Gilbert Sr. and Myrtlean Gilbert. Growing up, Gloria attended St. John's Catholic Church and later worshipped at Nazarene Baptist Church. After graduating from Rex Mundi High School, she attended the University of Evansville, which led to a successful career in accounting. She retired after many years of dedicated service with IBM and SAGE Health Services Inc. Above all else , Gloria loved her family. She was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Some of their fondest memories were Sunday drives together, often with no particular destination—just enjoying each other's company along the way. When she wasn't spending time with her family, Gloria enjoyed working crossword puzzles, preparing meals for those she loved, and tending to her flower gardens. She found great joy and peace in caring for her yard, where her flowers reflected the same warmth and beauty, she shared with everyone around her. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Myrtlean Gilbert; her beloved husband, Larry Owens; and her brother, Jesse Gilford Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughters, Lurenia Owens Mosley (Maurice) and Michelle Owens; her beloved grandchildren, Liana Rosser, Hans Mosley, and Michael Owens; her special nieces, Peaches Flynt (Dock) and Cream Garner (Wilbur); her great-nieces, Keene (Jeffery) Wright and Brittany Gardner, her great-nephew, Vincent (Janice) Wickware; along with a host of great-nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her memory. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the compassionate staff of Envive Healthcare for the exceptional love, kindness, and care they provided to Gloria during her time there. Though she will be deeply missed, Gloria's love, strength, and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
