Geraldine “Gerry” Bradshaw Pye March 22, 1930 – September 16, 2025

Gerry was born on March 22, 1930, in Topeka, Kansas, to Raymond and Mattie Bradshaw. As a young child, her family relocated to Gary, Indiana, where she was raised. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948.

After high school, Gerry began her working career at a stocking factory in Gary and later worked at Montgomery Ward in Chicago. In 1954, she married Otis Pye, who preceded her in death in 2006. Together, they raised six children. Once her children were older, Gerry returned to the workforce and joined the credit department at J.C. Penney, where she worked for many years before retiring from the Village location.

In her later years, Gerry moved to Evansville, Indiana, to be closer to family, and eventually made her home in Henderson, Kentucky.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Gerry was a devoted member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where she faithfully served for many years, including as a Sunday School teacher. Her love for the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she will be remembered as a humble, kind, and faithful servant of Christ.

Affectionately known as “Grandma Great” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Gerry was beloved for her gentle spirit, big heart, and unwavering generosity. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand and left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She had a green thumb and loved caring for her houseplants. She also enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements, watching Westerns, and never missed an episode of General Hospital. Known for her sharp wit and humor, Gerry was not only funny but also incredibly smart.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mattie Bradshaw; her beloved husband of 52 years, Otis Pye; her son, Kevin Pye; siblings, Raymond Bradshaw Jr., Roy Bradshaw, Mary Henry, and Joan B. Shaw; three stepchildren, Roy, Carl, and Frenchie; and her best friend of over 70 years, Geraldine Chandler.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Sandra Lynn Bradshaw, Ramona (Lloyd) Gilmore, Charlotte Pye, Brenda Pye, Cathy (Arthur Ray) Damper, and Lori Pye; 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Hazel Weatherall; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends — including her treasured friend of more than 50 years, Addie Pennington.

Gerry’s presence and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
