George Anderson Ray, 94 Evansville went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Home surrounded by his loving family.
George was born on September 9, 1924 in Henderson, KY to the late Alma Perkins Ray and James Ray Sr. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nora Mae Ray and brother; James Ray Jr. of Chicago, IL.
George retired from Alcoa Warrick Operations in 1989. He also worked as a bartender at Casino Aztar for many years and finished his working career as a greeter at McDonald’s at the age of 90.
George was a faithful member of Memorial Baptist Church for many years. He proclaimed to all his love for his church and his pastor, Rev. Dr. Adrian M. Brooks Sr.
George was known for his flair of dressing, his impeccable manners, and his “spicy” tongue.
George was a one of a kind man who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
George is survived by his loving daughter, Alma Dean Flowers and son-in-law George R. Flowers Sr., 3 grandchildren; George R. Flowers Jr.(Virginia), Lenora Hawes (Theron) and Rajean Wagner (Keith), 6 great grandchildren; Cassandra Francis, (Gregory), Carlada Patterson(Shamario), Almarie Mclamb, Todd Fleming, Bria Fleming and Ezra Flowers and 5 great-great grandchildren; Deanna, Denae, Alivia, Hendrix and Greyson. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
The family would like to thank the many family and friends who have shown great love and concern during their time of sorrow. They would also like to thank the nurses and staff of the Good Samaritan Home for their care.
Visitation will be Monday, March 11th, 11:00am to Noon with funeral to begin at 12 Noon at Memorial Baptist Church. Osborne Funeral Home has been entrusted with final care.
