George D. “Junebug” Jones, Jr., 63, departed this life for eternal life on Thursday, June 4, 2020 comfortably in his home. He was born to the union of Myra Moody and the late George D. Jones Sr. On January 18, 1957 in Louisville, KY.
He was the happily married husband of 26 years to Deborah (Pinner-Brown) Jones. He attended North High School and later was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving four years. He was the proud father of two, stepfather of three, and a proud grandfather. If you ever spoke to him, you know his favorite quote was, “I love God and I always pray for my family and friends. The whole entire world...everyday!” His favorite pastime was socializing with his friends and playing dominoes. Above all else, you could always count on him being dressed sharp and clean.
He was a member of Dove Chapel FGBC and later joined Liberty Baptist Church where he remained a member until his passing.
George was preceded in death by fathers George D. Jones, Sr. and William T. Moody as well as siblings Felecia, Jacques, Christopher, and Georgeann.
He is survived by his wife Deborah Jones of 26 years and his mother Myra L. Moody, both of Evansville, IN; children Crystal (Bradford) Usher of Indianapolis, IN, and K’Shawn Jones of Evansville, IN; children he loved as his own ,of Evansville, IN Carlton (Gay) and Dominic Brown(Angel) and Jarvis Brown(Cindy) of Florida; siblings, Chiquita (Larry) Armstead, Emily (Randall) Lander, Jerome (Bonetta) Jones, Ricky (Sonja) Thomas, Carl Moody, Wm. Edward Moody, Nanette (Harvey) Lewis, and Carlette Moody. Siblings, all of Louisville, KY Norita and Lewis Jones; Orlando Jones, Martina Hammon, Djuane (Crysta) Jones, and Dwane (Theresa) Jones; Johnny Jones of Nashville, TN; siblings, all of Evansville, Darlisha, George, Adrian, and Avion Jones, 1 aunt and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
While his family will miss him and cherish his memory, they are comforted by his words that he left at the passing of his father William T., “Your family loves you and always will. Pain and suffering is not for you here. God has your bed ready for you upstairs so you can rest better. Smile away! You are resting okay! We love you! We love you!”
Visitation will be Friday 10 to 11am with funeral to follow at 11:00am at Osborne Funeral Home.
