In Loving Memory

Evelyn ‘Louie’ or “Elma” Louise Taylor

“Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.”

Evelyn “Louie’ or “Elma” Louise Taylor, age 73, was born on May 8, 1953, in Hollandale, Mississippi, to Philip Winters and Ardia Alexander. She peacefully departed this life on June 1, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital.

Evelyn was a woman who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved cooking, keeping a clean home, listening to music, and spending time working in her puzzle books. More than anything, she cherished her family. Her children and grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she made it a point to stay connected with them through daily phone calls and messages, whether to share a laugh, offer a word of wisdom, or simply check in.

At a young age, Evelyn accepted Christ into her life and faithfully became a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Her faith remained an important part of her life and guided her love and devotion to her family.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Philip Winters and Ardia Alexander, her sisters, Brenda Webster and Linda Edwards, special nephews, Alexander Winters and Larry Wells Jr., and her special niece, Shamika Winters.

She leaves to cherish her special memories her daughters, Shalamar Clements, Sharmela Pegue, and Allegra Pegue, her brothers, Larry Wells Sr. and Avon Winters, her bonus son, Tony Pegue, and her bonus daughters, MeMe Pegue and Tangela Pegue.

She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren: Bre’azah Arstide, Jakiya Baker, Jaziya Dilworth, Allaya Perkins, Evanie Robinson, Amiyah Clements, Jay’vion Clements, Jamarion Adams, Alijah Lafayette, Demarion Perkins, Tarandal Dilworth Jr., Kyren Perkins, and Amari Lafayette.

In addition, she leaves behind eight great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
