Essay proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired chef. He was an avid collector of most anything, he loved mail order shopping and ordering from catalogs. He also enjoyed watching movies. Essay was a sharp dresser always paying attention to his clothes and appearance. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his daughters dearly.
Left to cherish fond memories are his wonderful loving daughters; Desna Dixon (Jonathan) and Shalisha Hackworth (William), sister; Janice Outlaw (Floyd), 6 grandchildren, nieces; Cynthia Grissett and Erica Johnson as well as a host of other extended family members and friends.
