Elijah Lewis McClure Boone 76 entered eternal rest at 10:30 am on Wednesday October 14.,2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. Indiana, to be with his heavenly father.
Born September 25, 1945 in Henderson, KY. to late Henry Lewis McClure Sr. and Virgie Mae Sugg McClure.
He attended Henderson Douglas High School. In his younger days, after serving in the National Guard, he worked various jobs, retiring after 19 years of employment with the Henderson Municipal Sanitation Dept.
Elijah was loved by everyone. Known for being tough man, he was kindhearted and loved his family. He was a deeply religious man. A member of Norris Chapel Baptist Church in Henderson, KY. He loved and depended on Jesus. Always kept his bible with him no matter where he went. Elijah knew the bible very well and would read the word all the time.
Elijah was a good man, with a wide range of hobbies and interest. He was exceptionally good at drawing. Had a love for the blues, even played the guitar at the W.C. Handy Blues festival activities throughout the years. His greatest love was practicing and teaching karate to children and adults. Nicknamed “Ninja Warrior” by his family, he won a trophy, white, and black belts. With many years of training and meditation he was able to break bricks with his bare hands. Elijah was also known as the King of Fagen Street fireworks. Elijah would spend hundreds of dollars every year to celebrate 4th of July. Each year he would light up Fagan Street while the kids, friends and neighbors watched. His pleasured hobby was eating chicken all the time and Chinese food, he never got tired of it. Elijah was a special and unique man. He will be greatly missed by his family.
He is preceded on death by his, mother and father, brothers David Russell McClure and Henry Douglas Junior McClure.
Leaving behind cherished memories to his brother Donald Ray McClure, sisters Wanda McClure, Debra McClure, Marschelle McClure, all of Henderson. Elijah had a host of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly
Funeral service will be Wednesday at Osborne Funeral Home 11:00 visitation will be 10:00am until service time at Osborne Funeral Home.
