Elijah “E.J.” Brooks was born in Chicago, IL on February 28, 1959,to the late Mattie (Jenkins) and Robert Brooks. “E.J.” attended school in Chicago where his teachers had hoped he would follow a career in Architecture ,but he took a different direction. Elijah went from Postal Service to Prison Guard at StateVille Correctional Facility to Forklift and Material Handler at his last postion with Pro Lam in Evansville.
Elijah was a Mason and a huge fan of the Chicago Bears.
In August of this year Elijah was diagnosed with stage four cancer. He fought the cancer like fighting a grizzly bear. On December 26,2015 the Lord must have decided this brave man had fought long enough enough,wrapped in God’s arms he was taken to a better place away from pain an worries of this world and reunited with loved ones that had gone on before him.
Elijah leaves to cherish many fond memories his son Corey Brooks , sister Vivian Kirk(Tony) brother, Robert Brooks(Debra), along with many cousins, extended family and a host of friends
Vistation will be Thursday 10am until 11:00 at Memorial Baptist Church with service beginning at 11:0 m 0am at the church
