Eleanor Sue Van Natta “Ellie”, 87, of Evansville, IN. passed away July 20, 2020. She was born to the late Herbert and Blanche (Zink) Poundstone November 22, 1932 in Decatur, IL. She was formerly married to the late Charles R. Van Natta, Jr in 1971. They lived together in Monticello, IN.
Eleanor is survived by one child; Laura Sugarman (Nathan) of Evansville, IN, sister; Loretta See of Jackson Gap, AL, 2 grandchildren; Ethan and Isabel, a niece, 4 nephews as well as other extended family members.
Education was very important to Eleanor she graduated high school in Decatur, IL in 1950. She earned a nursing degree from Washington University, St. Louis, MO in 1953, she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Missouri in 1956, Master of Science in 1961, Master of Education from Purdue University in 1970, She received a Certified Interdisciplinary Gerontology certificate from Southern Illinois University in 1993. Eleanor was a member of Aldergate Methodist Church. She loved to travel and spent her young adult life teaching at many nursing schools throughout the county. She valued her education and sharing that with others.
A burial will take place at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home and Cemeteries in Decatur, IL at a later date. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Ellie’s memory. Osborne Funeral Home has been entrusted with final care.
