Ms. Dorothy Ann Garrett departed this life at 2:50 a.m. October 2, 2020 at Linda E. White Hospice House, Evansville, Indiana.
She was born July 25, 1945 in Cedar Hill, Tennessee to the late Mr. & Mrs. James pope.
Dorothy was a member of Watkins Temple C.O.G.I.C. where she recieved the Baptism and the Holy Ghost. Dorothy participated in the church choir and was a devoted, faithful member of the Mother’s Board at Watkins Temple for many years and was active until she passed. One of her favorite Scriptures was the 23rd Psalms; “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake”. One of her favorite songs were; “Sweet honey and the rock.” Her family and friends will miss her so much.
Dorothy was a light to us and many others. She had a smile that shined so bright, and never failed to share the Gospel no matter where she went or who she may have come in contact with. She loved and cherished her children, her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, her family and friends. She was loved by all of her family, her pastor, church family and the community.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her mother; Naomi Pope, Her Father; James Pope, Her son; Anthony Wayne Brown, Her sister's; Mozella Burksted & Gladys Pope, Her brother’s; Leonard, Jessie, Robert & William Pope. Son-In-Law; Anthony Wilson Jr., Brother-In-Laws and sister-In-Laws; Robert Rogers, Matthew Joyce, Theadora Pope, and Mary Francis.
She leaves to cherish her memories 1 daughter; Ladria Charmaine Wilson (Garrett) of Indianapolis Indiana,1 step-daughter; Ingrid Smith (Garrett) of Evansville Indiana, 2 Sons; Stacy Garrett of Jackson Tennessee and Tyrone Garrett Jr. of Evansville Indiana.
2 Sisters; Verna Rogers of Evansville, Indiana and Mary Louise Joyce of Evansville, Indiana.
Sister-In-Law; Teresina Pope of Evansville Indiana.
Also a host of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends that loved her.
Memorial Service will be Monday at Watkins Temple Church 11:00AM for Immediate family. Walk Thru Visitation will will be held from 10 am until service time at the church.
