Dorothy May Higgins was born March 17,1924 to the proud parents of Hattie Clements and Vance Weathers. She then proceeded to marry the love of her life Tommy Higgins Sr. Settling down in their hometown in Henderson, Kentucky where they began their journey together.
Dorothy started her pathway of life with becoming a member of Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church of Henderson, Kentucky. She then went on to become a homemaker and a head cook at Red Banks Nursing Home in Henderson, Kentucky where she ultimately served 20 plus years becoming an important asset to their company.
Dorothy which was fondly called “DOT” had a heart of gold and a smile that could bright up any room. She was the most caring and loving person to anyone who knew her. Dorothy was truly filled with joy when watching Westerns “John Wayne” and “Chuck Norris” and soap opera’s “The Young and the Restless”, and “Days of Our Lives”. She also found joy in playing spades, solitaire, checkers, and loving her family. She went on to become a significant figure to all who knew her and the backbone for most. She became a great wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many.
Mrs. Dorothy May Higgins “DOT” was called to heaven on April 10,2022 in her home peacefully in Indianapolis, IN at the admirable age of 98. She was proceeded in death by her Parents; Hattie Clements and Vance Weathers; Husband: Tommy Higgins Sr.; Children: Sandra Smith “Jean”; Tommy Higgins Jr. “June”; Clarice Higgins; Sisters: Pauline Weathers; Juanita Weathers; Long Time Best friend: Ruby Carr
She leaves to cherish her memory with Children: Dorothy Higgins “Eileen”; Maggie &Aaron Hamilton “Turk”; Joyce “Duckie” & George McClure; Michael Higgins; Cora “Birdie” & Webster Chambers; Paul Higgins “Dooly”; Katherine Higgins “Kat”; James “Jimbo” & Teresa Higgins; Son In Law: Roger Smith Sr; Sister: Linda Salmon; And a host of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, 9 to 11am with the funeral to follow at 11:00 am at Greater Norris Chapel Baptist Church in Henderson, KY.
