Donnelle Armstrong lived a life defined by love, quiet strength, and steadfast devotion to the people he held dear. His passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, yet his spirit continues to shine through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, humility, and unwavering loyalty. From a young age, Donnelle was taught to love God— a foundation that shaped his character and guided every step of his journey. His faith grew into a lifelong calling as he became a minister of the gospel, eventually leading his own congregation. In his later years, he preached at the Brownsville Church of Christ in Miami, Florida, where his messages of hope and compassion resonated deeply with those he served. After relocating to Evansville, Indiana, Donnelle continued his ministry by preaching and teaching Sunday school, sharing his wisdom and devotion with a new community. He served as Associate Minister of Berlin Heights Church of Christ. In addition to his ministry, Donnelle was deeply committed to serving others in practical ways. He worked for several years at the Goodwill Family Center in Evansville, Indiana, where his compassion, work ethic, and encouragement left a lasting impression on coworkers and those he served. For 32 years, Donnelle, affectionately known as “fat boy,” shared a deep and enduring partnership with his wife, Sheila DeJarnett-Armstrong—a bond built on mutual respect, laughter, and commitment that carried them through every season of life. Together, they formed a blended family that remained a source of deep pride throughout his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mamie Armstrong, stepson, Desmond Brown, siblings, Leeann Stanley, and Bennie Armstrong, brothers-in-law: Buford Whitfield and Cleveland Johnson Sr. He is survived by his cherished children: Desiree Brown Darris Armstrong (Gina), and Michaela P. Armstrong. Surviving siblings include: Doris Whitfield, Cornelius Armstrong, Alice Ann Armstrong Wright (Paul); Hure “Jimmy” Armstrong (Carla); Frankie Armstrong (Keisha); Lottie Armstrong- Johnson, and Anthony Armstrong (Angela). He is also survived by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends
