Donna Marie Boyd

Donna Marie Boyd, 74, entered this world on March 4, 1952 in Morganfield, KY at Camp Breckinridge (Earle C. Clements) Army Base. She was the cherished daughter of Patricia (Patsy) Boyd and Arthur G. Boyd. She peacefully passed away on August 27, 2026 at Redbanks Nursing Home in Henderson, KY.

Donna attended Henderson City High School as a youth but returned to Henderson County High School and completed her diploma in 2007. She was employed through ResCare for years. She also provided in-home care for several children and adults. Donna had a heart for the vulnerable and elderly and spent a lot of time tending to their concerns.

Donna’s love for Christ ran deep and was shown through her dedication to her church, First Missionary Baptist Church. This was her mother’s, Patsy, church but Donna soon made it her home. Donna served on several committees for her church including singing in the FMBC Sanctuary Choir, Mission Circle #4, member of Christian Women Missionary Society, Sunday School Ministry, Vacation Bible School teacher, active with church Bible Study, member of the Senior Usher Board, and the Kitchen Committee.

After Sunday church service, Donna could be found at one of her favorite restaurants, Golden Corral. She was such a regular that the staff had a designated table for her attendance. She enjoyed engaging with the staff and people who patroned the restaurant. Donna never met a stranger and she could out talk anyone!

Being outdoors was a passion for Donna. She loved gardening, tending to her many flowers, sitting on her front porch and attending gatherings such as the Bluesfest. She would share her garden harvest with her church members and anyone in need. She enjoyed visitors stopping by and spending time with her on her porch. No matter how many times you would tell her you needed to leave, she would start another subject just to be in your presence. At various park festivals, you could find Donna there dancing and singing to her heart’s content.

Donna also loved her grandchildren very much and attended many their sports and school events as possible.

Donna is preceded in death by her mother, Patricia A. Boyd; her father, Arthur G. Boyd; sons Richard “Brother” Green, Jr, Finis Floyd, & Arlies “Jug” Fortune; her sister, Anna Sue Postell; step-father Larry Haynes; and “grandmother” Nina K. Watkins.

Donna leaves to cherish her memory her beloved brothers Jerry Carter (Anita); Danny Carter; Tony Carter; Derrick Boyd; and Chadwick Boyd; children Shannon Hayden (Shawn); Tiffany Savage (James); Arlando Floyd (Jessica); Devin Baker (Myranda); Kyle Baker; William Fortune (Michelle); Mel Floyd (Tracey); Felicia Hill (Ricky); Pierre Floyd; 30 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

The family wishes to express their heart felt gratitude to Dr. Scott Watkins and staff with Henderson Deaconess Clinic, as well as the care of Redbanks staff especially the Central/Hospice unit and St. Anthony Hospice staff through Redbanks for their support during this challenging time.

Donna’s faith, love of others, and laughter will always be remembered by those who knew her. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in know that she is now at peace, no more pain, and resting safely in His loving arms.
