Donita Mae Hazelwood, 61, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family. Donita was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 8, 1962, to Eugene Ricketts and Dorothy Payne Lambert.
Donita attended the Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah Witness. Donita was a real hard worker. Taking care of those disabled or needing extra care was her passion, being a caregiver brought her the greatest joy. She loved being around her family, attending family functions and gatherings. Donita was the auntie that everyone wanted to visit. She was always willing to help someone. She also enjoyed cooking and playing cards.
Her father preceded her in death.
Donita leaves her fond memories to her husband; Robert Hazelwood, daughter; Donika Hazelwood, mother; Dorothy Lambert, brothers; Samuel Lambert Jr, Oralee Lambert, Randy Ricketts, DeWayne Ricketts, and three grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Visitation will be held Thursday 10 to 11am with a graveside funeral service to follow at 11:00am at Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel.
