Dewayne Whitlock

July 5, 1973 — May 6, 2016

DeWayne Edward Whitlock, known affectionately as "Bear" to his mother, was born July 5, 1973 to Janice Pauline (Kivel) Whitlock and James Edward Whitlock at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville Indiana.

DeWayne is survived by his father James, daughters Ciara, Rian, and Ava, DeNaya, Ebonie, and Nakyla, sisters Nadine Whitlock and Terri (Isaac) White, and brother David (Velicia) Whitlock. Surviving also is DeWayne's long time companion and close friend Candis Helm. DeWayne was a loving uncle to 3 nephews and 4 nieces. There are surviving several paternal and maternal uncles, aunts, and cousins. It is no understatement that DeWayne had innumerable friends. From an early age it became evident DeWayne would never meet a stranger. If you would listen he would talk and give you a brief span of time to respond (LOL).

DeWayne began his Christian journey as a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. DeWayne was taught and instilled with a strong Christian belief by his parents under the shepherds of Zion, first Pastor J.M. Caldwell and then Pastor Dr. R.V. Terry, Jr. DeWayne was baptized at Zion acknowledging Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. While at Zion DeWayne attended Sunday School and participated with the Puppet Ministry while in elementary and middle school. DeWayne was continuing his study of the Word through Bible Study at the Rock Church in St. Peter's, MO. He also loved to engage in Bible and theology discussions with his sister, brother, and brother-in-law to gain a deeper understanding of the Word of God.

DeWayne was an avid fan and participator in sports. DeWayne distinguished himself playing on the LVO Club World Biddy Ball team that journeyed to New Orleans for the World Championship Tourney in 1986. Dewayne was a member of the Bosse High School Cub football team that went undefeated the 1988 season. DeWayne also played freshman and varsity football while at Benjamin Bosse High School.

After high school DeWayne attended the University of Evansville earning a bachelor's degree in computer engineering in 1998.

DeWayne began his working career after college working in the Facility Maintenance department at Bristol Meyers-Squibb. He went on from there to become a supervisor at the Mead Johnson Pharmaceutical Mount Vernon Indiana plant. DeWayne steadily moved up from there to be a manager for companies like Novartis. He was currently working in a FDA field office specializing in pharmaceutical non-compliance issues.
We will all miss DeWayne's unique wit, quick smile, and alter ego, 'Kicky McGee!'
