Darlotta Marquette Compton was born October 1, 1974, to Charles and Barbara Compton in Evansville, Indiana. She departed this life on April 28, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, IN.
Darlotta accepted Christ at a young age at Eastview Missionary Baptist Church under her grandfather Reverend George Fairfield Cooksey.
Darla as many called her, attended Stanley Hall and Central High School. She enjoyed listening to Easy E and New Edition as well as other music that got her up and energized. Darla loved to do hair, watch movies, spend time with family and laugh and hang out. One thing you could count on from Darla was that she would give you a nickname to remember such as “Shardine” (Rasharde) and “Doob-Doob” (Doobie), “Keeta-a-wee’ (Kiana), “ Sammy D” (Sammy) and countless others. Her favorite saying was “Do it Again” when you did or said something silly. Darla always loved to laugh and smile.
Darla is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Barbara Jean Cooksey-Compton, Grandparents, Rev. George Fairfield and Rosalyn “Granny” Cooksey and Crona “Pa-Pa” Compton and Addie Harris, son, Matias Compton.
Darla leaves to cherish fond and delightful memories to loved ones- sons : Diamante Jones, SaVaun Cunningham, daughter Octavia Cunningham. brothers, Daran Hayden, Enzio Compton, Demetris Compton, and Thendis Compton, sisters : Rosealyn (Darchelle)Compton, Marion (Torre) Compton-Griffin, LaDonna Compton, and her twin sister Karlotta Compton, 13 grandchildren whom, meant the world to her. She enjoyed and loved spending time with them. Many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.
Darla also leaves to cherish very special and close memories to her uncle Johnny and childhood friend who became our sister, Brea Johnson.
