Cordelia Sue Wimsatt-Ussery

November 2, 1930 — April 7, 2017

Cordelia Sue Ussery (Wimsatt), 86, was called home for peace and rest with her loving Father on Friday, April 7, 2017. A native of Evansville, Indiana, Cordelia was a loyal and dedicated member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and served on the Mother’s Board, Youth Missions, and was a joyful singer and member of the New Hope’s Choir.
Cordelia was the daughter of Sam and Ophelia Wimsatt from Maceo, Kentucky. In 1945, Cordelia married Earmon Ussery, who is deceased. She is also proceeded in death by her Daughter, Margaret “Poochie” (Wimsatt) Joyce and Son, Earmon D. Ussery.
Cordelia was a loving and devoted mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her sisters Anna Minor, Margie “Wimp” Lash, and Mary Scott all of Indiana; her children: Leroy (Guin) of Nevada, Albert “Huck” (Joann) of Pennsylvania, Nathaniel “Nate” (Polly) of Missouri, David of Indiana, Diane of Tennessee, Cheryl of Washington State, and Ronald “Ronnie” of California. Cordelia was blessed with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 15, 2017, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 663 W.R. Brown Way (aka 663 S. Elliott). Visitation will be from 9-11 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with the funeral following at 11 am. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery on Monday, April 17, 2017. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carver Community Organization.
