Clifton Carter

Clifton Charler Carter, 45, was called home to be with the Lord on, Tuesday January 27, 2026. His absence will be deeply felt by the many lives he touched. While he is gone from our sight, he will never be gone from our hearts. Clifton is now at peace in the arms of the Savior. Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Clifton was born in Evansville, IN, the first son to Luther Lawton, Sr and Tammie Lawton. He attended Bosse High School and later obtained his GED in 2002. In 2020, Clifton graduated from Ivy Tech Community College and earned two associate’s degrees, the first in Criminal Justice and the second in Paralegal Studies. Clifton worked most of his life as a mover and hauler. He began his career at Wagemann Moving, Hauling, and Delivery. He later worked for Barnette’s Furniture and Appliances and Shetler Moving and Storage. He loved the fast pace and physical aspects of the job.

Clifton’s generosity was unmatched. Clifton delivered toys to the local fire stations for children in need during Christmas. If anyone was in need around him he made sure they had. Clifton had a heart of gold, always making sure everyone was taken care of, lending a listening ear, or his arms for a hug. He enjoyed reading, fishing, hanging out with family and friends, he was most proud of spending time with his wife and children.

Clifton was preceded in death by his father Luther Lawton, Sr, his Uncle DeJohn Florence, his brother Bryan Bailey, and his son A’Jayden Ware.

He will be deeply missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife of 20 years and married 15 years, Whitney, his loving mother Tammie, his sisters MarQuietta, Tonesha, Danelle, LuQuiesha, and Buanka, brothers Seville, Luther Jr, and Javad. His sons Kelly, Ce’Trel, Klifton, A’Jayden, Kyrique, Cameron, C’Erion, Isaac, and Nehemiah, Daughters Jhanaie, Ce’Aria, September, and Paige, Special Niece Al’Drica, Grandchildren T’Auri, Faith, Av' Lonna, Ja’Darion, Nay’Ari, Ezra, Naomi, A’Jayden, Klifton Jr., Ka’Niyree, Kaisyn, and Sarai. Special People, God-Mom Tina Campbell Green, Aunt Michelle Hickson, Kalemeia Collins, Marcus Bailey, Myles Robinson, Charles Clements, Harry Campbell, Eric Sabb, RIchard Steen, and Jimmy Lawton; and numerous aunts and uncles, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
